Read moreApple’s iOS app has been downloaded more than 15 million times on iOS alone, with more than three million of those users reading the app for the first time.
In its first month on the App Store, Apple’s iOS App Store has been viewed by more than 11 million people, according to the App Annie report released today.
The report was compiled by App Annie and the Nielsen Company, with support from Nielsen Media Research.
The number of downloads for Apple’s iPhone and iPad apps in its first week of availability in Australia has been significantly higher than for other markets, such as China and India, according the report.
This is because Apple’s apps are also being downloaded by people who aren’t familiar with the software and are therefore likely to download it on a whim, Nielsen said.
In the first three weeks of release, the AppStore for iPhone accounted for over 10 per cent of total downloads on the Apple app store, according Nielsen data.
But that number has fallen to just over 4 per cent by the end of April, the report said.
The data also showed that the majority of downloads were coming from users who are new to the Apple ecosystem and were also downloading iOS apps for the very first time, rather than users who have been using the software for a long time.
Nielsen said that while Apple’s first-week downloads in Australia are higher than those for other countries, they are not the only numbers showing a strong growth in the number of iOS users.
Apple’s iPhone users were downloaded over 15 million more times on the iPhone app in the first week than the iPhone 6s in China and just over 12 million more than the iPad app in India, it said.
Apple has seen strong growth across a range of platforms and categories in Australia, including the mobile app store for the iPad, which grew more than 80 per cent in the country in the same period.
Apple also announced today that it is launching an app store in China that will provide users with more options to find, buy, buy and buy apps.
The new app store will be launched in China on April 20, according a statement from Apple.
